This Little Piggy Didn't Make It Home...

Just in from Texas...

Texas hog and a Small Drop Point Hunter

Who says you need a big knife? The blade on this one is only 2 7/8" and its owner said it worked like a charm.

Customer Testimonial

I recently received this customer testimonial:

Lee

A year or so ago I bought a couple of knives from you that I had seen on Accurate Reloading. Finally got a chance to put one of them to work. My son and I have been hunting blacktails in western Washington for 20+ years and my son was successful again this year. Attached is a picture of his blacktail buck he shot the second weekend of the season. We gutted and skinned the deer with one of your Small Drop Point Hunters and the knife worked to perfection keeping a razor sharp edge throughout. You make a really nice knife and I've got two of them.

A New Drop Point Hunter

Here's a new design. It's a modification of my Large Drop Point Hunter.

Blade length is 3 5/8", overall length is 7 3/4". The handle on this one is natural Mircarta with red liners and mosaic pins.

I have also modified my Semi-Skinner in the same manner and will post an example when it is completed. If you are  interested in purchasing a custom knife, I can be reached at baumgartknives@gmail.com

Available Knives and Some Customer Photos

Available Knives
These knives are currently available. The top knife is my Semi-Skinner and the bottom knife is my Large Drop Point Hunter. Both have O1 blades, black Mircarta handles, silver pins and thong tube, and red liners. Each comes with a hand-stitched 8-9 oz leather sheath.

BOTH KNIVES ARE SOLD.

Customer Photos

The knife pictured below and it's owner have been featured in several older posts on this blog. This time he kindly sent me photos of his daughter's first bear taken in Utah. The proud dad was called in to skin the bear and act as a packer. The knife was certainly put to good use. Congratulations on a wonderful bear!

Current Inventory

I generally work from customer orders and don't carry any inventory. When I do have a little time to make knives between orders, they go pretty fast.

I currently have two semi-skinners available. The blades of both of these knives are 1/8" high carbon tool steel. Blade length is approx. 3 1/2" and overall length is approx. 7 1/2".  The first knife features a black micarta handle with red liners and silver thong tube and pins. The second has a Desert Ironwood handle, red liners, and brass thong tube and pins.

BOTH KNIVES ARE SOLD..

Black Mircarta

Desert Ironwood

New Knife Model

It's been a while since my last post. Since the last post I have been attending the monthly Oregon Arms Collector shows http://oregonarmscollectors.com/ held near the Portland airport and attended the 26th annual Castle Rock Cartridge Collectors show. My wife didn't believe there was such a thing as a cartridge collectors show! Tell that to the guys spending $500+ on a box of UMC Sharps cartridges. I am, however, not one of those guys and my only purchase at the show was a copy of Cartridge Reloading Tools of the Past from Tom Chamberlain's table.

Most importantly, I have been designing a few new knifes. One of which is pictured below. This knife is a replacement for my original bird and trout/caping knife. It features a blade with less drop than the original. Overall length of the knife is 7 3/8". The blade is high carbon O1 tool steel, 3 3/8" long. Blade depth is 3/4". The handle is Desert Ironwood with red liners and mosaic pins. Included with the knife is a hand stitched 8/9 oz leather sheath.

THIS KNIFE IS SOLD.
